About Master Gardener Volunteer Program
Defiance County Master Gardener training classes are usually held on Thursdays for 9 weeks, starting in March. The classes will be 9am-4pm with an hour lunch. The cost of the class will be $85. Couples who wish to share a training manual may do so for an extra $45. Each class member will be responsible for getting yourself fingerprinted at a cost of $27.

The Defiance County Master Gardeners coordinated and established two Community Garden Plots. Eighteen plots in Defiance, OH, and twelve plots in Hicksville, OH, were adopted by citizens to plant, care for and harvest product throughout the growing season. Participants consume their own produce, donate surplus to local needs and/or sell produce at the Defiance County Farmers Markets.
